There is a big difference between closed captioning in the US and subtitles in the UK. In the UK subtitles are almost always present. Lower case letters are used and there is a different colour used to represent each speaker.

So I came here to find only some programs CCed, and all captioning is in white, and capitals. I feel like I am being shouted at the whole time and it's so hard to follow conversation!

I do wish that they would improve the technology here.

That would be a good idea to have them edit the closed captioning here in the US. Make it more enjoyable to watch television without seeing caps all the time. I agree that they need to fix this issue.

I've never seen closed captioning in the UK, but I use it sometimes in the US. I never thought about it, but now that you mention it, YES. It could be much better.

My Dad uses it often because he can't hear well. I use it at times for certain things I find difficult to understand.

Some channels, or simply shows, don't really care about that much with their caption because it's just a small population of people that is being affected.

The problem is most people do not really want captions in their shows. They're watching not reading and putting captions in shows just makes them more irritated instead of relaxed. I hope all channels would put an option for people if ever we want captions to appear or not.

I agree with what Fhyuder said. Some people just don't like to put those captions on their screens.
