A FREE advice service to the hard-of- hearing in the Workington area will be re-launched in the New Year in larger premises.
The monthly advice session, which operates under the banner of Bridging the Gap, will be held in the rehabilitation unit of Workington Community Hospital, Park Lane on the fourth Tuesday of every month (9.30 to 12 noon). The next session is on Tuesday, January 22.
Hugh Stirling, who coordinates the service, said the sessions are now attracting up to 40 people.
“Up to now, we have been holding sessions in the Age Concern Centre on Finkle Street,” he said, “ but we now need slightly larger premises, so you could say we are the victims of our own success.
"We offer a battery exchange service for hearing aids and we have trained volunteers who offer advice and assistance on hearing aids and on audiology issues in general.”
